Seeing yourself through the other lens:
So here is the thing we all do it! We all look in the mirror from time to time and do not see what "others" say they see in us. We brush off the compliment because we can not see that in ourselves. But if roles were reversed and we were telling our family member, best friend, random person off the street, a co-worker, a classmate or so on and so on we would be telling them how awesome we thought they are or how strong they are. We would be there biggest cheering sections because we believe in them we see them through our own lens our own vision and perceptions of them because we love them and can see there potential. So we are quick to support the ones we love and boost them up because it's easier then building ourselves up in that aspect. If we take the compliment we may look to "cocky", if we do not accept the compliment then we are basically telling the person they are wrong (which i personally am way to guilty of doing). What a world we could be in if we could only see ourselves through some one else's lens. If I could have a super power for one day it would be to see my self through the eyes of the people in my life closest to me. For one day I would be able to see the "strength" that a friend says they see in me daily, I would be able to see what another means by "good genuine person". I would be able to see the "potential" I am told I have. But what good would that do? Because at the end of the day after seeing through someone else's lens I would just go back to seeing myself as i did before. It doesn't start with the ability to see through someone else's eyes, it starts with us having the ability to start being honest with ourselves and loving ourselves. It starts with accepting the compliment and not thinking more into it then what it is. It starts with accepting the fact that each of us, yes each of us even you reading this pointless blog with probably a million grammatical errors, that our potential is REAL, that the strength others see in us is in fact REAL. We believe so much in the people around us that we are building them up then we shut them down when they try to build us up as well. Face the facts right here right now, every single day there is always someone that see's something in you that you do not, there is always a person that see's a better quality in you then you may see in yourself. Weather you know the person or not it takes a lot of guts to tell someone that you think they are awesome for whatever reason. So that being said ACCEPT IT!! I have learned quite recently that when we are weak and broken and at our wits end that's when someone feels the need to tell you how awesome you really are in there eyes. I certainly feel far from what they are telling me I am, but what I do feel in those moments is the love that person has for me and that even though I feel far from what they are telling me what they see, its okay because they see it in me, they must see something I can not in those moments of weakness. So to the person that wishes to see themselves through a different lens or set of eyes, let me be the first to tell you something. YOU YES YOU!! YOU ARE DOING BETTER THEN YOU THINK, YOUR STRONGER THEN YOU KNOW, YOUR DOING GREAT THINGS IN THIS WORLD! YOU KEEP BEING YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE DOING YOU BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE CAN!! It may not feel like that at all times but that's okay. For me I am working on accepting the compliment. It's hard at times yes, do i always believe it ? No I don't. But there is one thing in this life that I know for sure, that 1. adults are just constantly googling everything and no one has there life that put together. 2. We are humans that need that human connection to know our worth in the sight of others. 3. The reason we can not see ourselves in a different persons eyes is because we need those people to build us up and we need to build them up. 4. We are trying to become the things we see in others as they are trying to become the things they see in us. So keep grinning and just accepting the compliment. We can be the things we see in others just as long as we start believing in ourselves and loving what strengths we do have. I have heard in the last 2 months mostly all these things almost daily from various people which i am so grateful for because I never knew that I needed to know that I various qualities in myself that I could not believe or see. But they are there! So if you have made it this far congrats you have made it to the end of my rant! Basically just keep moving forward, accept the compliments, believe them, believe in you, and build others up while doing this. Remember this adult thing didn't come with a manual of how to do it right or wrong, when in doubt google it out. YOU ARE DOING BETTER THEN YOU THINK!! SO KEEP DOING IT! KEEP MOVING FORWARD!
