The Most "Wonderful" Time of The Year...

It's the most wonderful time of the year. It's the time of year where everyone is a little kinder, a little more charitable, a little more sympathetic towards strangers, people do more random acts of kindness towards others, more time/gifts/money/etc. are given because people feel the "holiday spirit." Any act of good is a wonderful thing to give to a stranger or someone we know, but doing it one time a year and because of "holiday spirit" is a load of crap. Why do we limit it to one season one time a year? Are we doing it because we genuinely care for the person that needs us in those moments or is it because of something we feel around the holiday season because "its the most wonderful time of the year"? Now this may sound like a bah-hum-bug statement, but stay with me and I will show you that its not, limiting ourselves to only being a better person around the holiday seasons sets up our excuses for the rest of the year to be anything less then the "better person during the holiday season."
Why do we limit it to one season of giving? Shouldn't all of the seasons be the giving season? We limit ourselves to the giving season around the holidays because we are slightly condition to think that it matters more during this season. It does matter but it matters at any time of the year not just during the giving season. Everyday no matter the time of the year someone is struggling. Weather it's loss of jobs, loved ones, barely meeting ends meet, mentally struggling, physically struggling, being away from loved ones or even some being with loved ones, the list goes on and on of how we all struggle during anytime of the year. We should not only care for one another during the "holiday season" but make every season the "holiday season". When we care for one another more then just once a year something about the holiday magic gets to be carried over to the rest of the year.  When we take the holiday spirit throughout the whole year we are doing what we are supposed to do as humans, taking care of one another! It is great that we take care of each other during the most wonderful time of the year, but everyday should be the most wonderful time of the year because we are still helping each other out no matter the season. There are 365 days a year, that's 365 chances to be kinder to others, 365 chances to make someone a little better and a little more whole when we found them, 365 days 24 hours per day 525,600 minutes in a year and 86,400 seconds a day, to make this world a little better place no matter the season.
I am not saying you have to dedicate every moment to helping or giving or being there for someone, but what i am saying that if we carry the "holiday season" spirit throughout the whole year it spots being just the "holiday season" spirit it starts being a good person and human for putting our lives on pause for a tiny moment to help where we are needed. Maybe we are not always needed every day but i guarantee you that if we are at least looking everyday for something that we can do for someone else our lives and those that cross our paths lives will be forever better. No one has ever said "i hate that i helped be kind to someone today!" No one has ever walked away from a person saying "that ruined my day opening that door for that person." If we start doing something everyday for someone else even the smallest kindness like a smile to someone, we will start to see its easier to see the positive in this world and to go through life with our heads a little higher knowing that  its not all bad that there is still good in this world no matter the time of year. We are all different, we all believe in different things, we all support different causes, the "holiday spirit" is special because we put all those things aside and just care for one another. So i hope this year as it is the most wonderful time of the year we take the "holiday spirit" with us into 2019 all of it.
